Announcing
PzDB1.1

PzDB1.1 adds many of new features, a new faster Importer and Search Engine, and addresses the Product Activation and MS Office 2007 SP2 Issues from PzDB 1.0!

New: User Added Keywords
You may now add any keyword you wish to any Item or any set of Items you wish. The “Add Keyword” button is located under the list of Keywords in the Current Item Window in the upper right corner of the Main Browser.

You can add any new or existing Keyword to the Current Item, to all Items in the Current Folder, or to all current Search Results at once. If the Keyword is already associated with one or more Groups, those Items will automatically be added to those Groups. If the Keyword is new, all existing Items will be scanned to see if they already contain the new Keyword.

New: Removes Deleted Items
During Library import, PzDB now scans for, and removes deleted Library content from your database. (This step is optional, the Importer runs faster without it.)

New: Category Filters, Keyword Filters and Library Filters (“One-at-a-Time” View)
In response to users who requested an “All-Off” button to go with the All-On Buttons for Categories, Keywords and Libraries, we have created a new “Filter” system. In the Search Tab, under Categories, Keywords and Libraries you will now find two new buttons labeled “All” and “One.”

Like version 1.0 the “All” button activates all the Categories. The new “One” button enables you view Categories one at a time. When you click the “One” button it will light up red and stay down (It’s a “toggle switch”.)

Now you can click on any Category (click on the word or on the checkbox) and all the other Categories will be disabled, so you can look at just that one. You can click a different Category and just look at that one. Turn off the “One” button and you can look at two or three Categories, or just click “All” to turn them all back on. The buttons function the same way for Keywords and Libraries.

New: Add All Search Results to Group
In addition to adding any Item to a Group, or all Items in one Folder to a Group, you can add all the Items in the Current Search Results to a Group at once. The new “Add Search Results to Group” is under the Search Button. Please be careful, this action cannot be undone.

New: Search within Search Results
The “Previous Search Results” Group enables you to Search within Search results. After doing any Search, simply select the Group “Previous Search Results” (the browser contents will not change) and you can now perform another Search within those Items. You can repeat this as often as you like. Once you reach the message “No Items Found” the “Previous Search Results” Group will be empty and you will have to load another Group.

New: User Preferences
The first time you launch PzDB1.1, if it notices that you have a Version 1.0 data file you will be shown the new User Preferences window.

Poser Filepath
Enter the path to your Poser Program folder, the location of Poser.exe.  (This setting obviates the “Your first Library must be your main Poser Library” requirement from PzDB 1.0)

Custom Text Editor
You can now set any text editor program you wish for the “Edit Text” button. This must be an executable “exe” file. If left blank PzDB will use Windows Notepad (like in version 1.0). We recommend GVim, or MS Word.

Office 2007 Color Scheme
Two thirds of our users do not have Microsoft Office 2007 installed, so they had no way of changing the MS Office Color scheme from the default “Blue” setting. We think PzDB looks much better in Black. (This setting will affect all other Office 2007 programs installed on your system)

New: Library Manager
The New Library Manager window enables you to rename and delete Libraries. In the future you will also be able to sort them like Groups.

New: Faster Import of Large Libraries. The Library Importer has been re-tuned for fast indexing of massive Libraries. PzDB now Groups Items 35% to 50% faster, Cross Referencing is now up to 30% faster, rescanning an existing Library can be up to  90% faster, and the sometimes lengthy “Preparing to Cross Reference…” step now has been eliminated completely.

New: Automatically updates your current database. On first launch PzDB1.1 will update your PzDB1.0 database to enable the new faster Search Engine and Indexing systems.

Fixed: Search Results Sorting Issue. The Microsoft Access “Jet” database engine is designed to be fast. So fast unfortunately, that in PzDB 1.0 it was sometimes actually writing Search Result information to the PzDB Browser cache in the wrong order.  We’ve changed how PzDB uses the cache and we believe that we’ve solved the problem. As a side-effect of this change Searches are even faster, unfortunately another side-effect is that when you re-size the Browser Window, PzDB must now reload the Group, or redo the Search. Since all our users do much more Searching than re-sizing the window, you should notice an overall performance increase.

Fixed:  Product Activation Issue. Some PzDB 1.0 Trial Users (less than 1%) reported that their 30 Day Trial copy “expired” either immediately after installation or on the second or third use. (If you were a happy PzDB 1.0 user, then this clearly did not happen to you.) PzDB 1.1 Product Activation addresses this issue, and our new system should be reliable on all Windows computers and be much more tolerant of changes to hardware and software configuration.

Immunity to MS Office Access 2007 SP2 bug. This version no longer becomes erratic after the installation of MS Office Access 2007 SP2.  Users are now encouraged to install the update.

You can download a Fully Functional 60 Day Free Trial of PzDB, right now.
